Dada la importancia de publicar en ciencia, existen numerosos trabajos que brindan consejos sobre cómo escribir manuscritos científicos para que sean leídos por una gran cantidad de colegas. Sin embargo, existen pocas guías que describan cómo escribir para ahuyentar lectores. En ese ensayo pretendo cubrir ese vacío de conocimiento y ofrecer consejos sobre cómo se debe escribir un manuscrito para desprenderse de la mayoría de los lectores. Obviar el marco conceptual del trabajo, abrumar con información específica e irrelevante, construir múltiples líneas argumentales sin concluir ninguna, doblegar la biología de la mano de la estadística y comparar los resultados propios con los de otros trabajos sin ningún motivo son algunas de las sugerencias que propongo para ahuyentar lectores. Si, por el contrario, se pretende divulgar didácticamente los resultados de las investigaciones a una amplia audiencia de colegas, sugiero que se haga exactamente lo opuesto a lo que propongo.
Given the importance of publishing in science, there are many papers that provide advice on how to write scientific manuscripts to be read by a large number of colleagues. However, there are few guides that describe how to write to scare readers away. Here I try to fill this knowledge gap, offering advice on how to write to get rid of most readers. Avoiding include a conceptual framework, burdening with specific and irrelevant information, building multiple rationale arguments without concluding any, killing the biology of the hand of the statistic, and comparing the own results with those of other works without any reason, are some of the suggestions which I propose for scare away readers. If, conversely, you intend to make your work known didactically to a wide audience of colleagues, I suggest you do exactly the opposite of what I propose.
