Abstract:

In this work the propagation of beams with gaussian distribution intensity in uniaxial anisotropic media is studied. Vectorial and scalar treatments are considered and compared. It is demonstrated that the scalar treatment is suitable for rather narrow beams and that the tridimensional propagation can be evaluated as the product of two characteristic bidimensional cases with cylindrical symmetry.
