Abstract:

The dispersion relations and the fields for surface waves in interfaces formed by an isotropic metal and a uniaxial crystal are obtained for the cases in which the plane of incidence is a symmetry plane. These results are compared with those obtained for attenuated total reflection in Kretschmann’s configuration. An adequate coincidence, similar to that for the isotropic case, is obtained. © 1996 Optical Society of America.
