Abstract:

The correlated ground state of deformed heavy nuclei is examined with relation to the Kπ=2+ excited states predicted by the Quasi Particle Random Phase Approximation. Both the schematic and the nonschematic treatments of the residual interaction are considered. The quasi particle density distribution over the available orbitals is analyzed for nuclei within the rare earth region. Relations between the quasi particle density matrix and one-nucleon-transfer amplitudes are derived and the reaction probabilities are studied as functions of the energy. It is found that a consistent description of nuclear ground state correlations (within the spirit of the quasi boson approximation) is obtained both with the schematic and the nonschematic treatments. Effects of the presence of different matrix elements of the residual interaction are discussed. © 1974 Springer-Verlag.
